Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in position of the top dead point (ВМТ)

As the top dead point (ВМТ) is called the highest point of a course of the piston in the cylinder. Strictly speaking, in 4-taktnyh engines in the course of rotation of a cranked shaft the given position is reached by each of pistons twice: once in the end of a step of compression and the second – in the end of a release step. At performance of procedures of adjustment and adjustment of the engine in overwhelming majority of cases position of the piston of the first cylinder in ВМТ the end of a step of compression is used.

Necessity for piston reduction for position ВМТ arises at carrying out of many procedures, in particular such, as service клапанного the mechanism, removal and installation of a camshaft, components of drive ГРМ, etc.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure, that transmission is translated in neutral position, then cock a lay brake, or prop up back wheels of the car противооткатными boots. Separate sockets of electroconducting of coils of ignition and turn out spark plugs (the Section Check and replacement of spark plugs see).
  2. Reduction of any of pistons in position ВМТ is made by проворачивания a cranked shaft of the engine in a normal direction of rotation by means of a face key with a ratchet drive (clockwise) for a bolt screwed in an end face of a forward pin of a cranked shaft. In the presence of the assistant, preliminary проворачивание the engine a starter (short jerky) can be carried out from a driver's place under an operator guide.
  3. If the cover of a head of cylinders is not removed, turn out spark plugs and establish компрессометр in a candle aperture of the first cylinder (the Door Section see).

Компрессометр should be completed by a carving nozzle with a connecting hose in length not less than 15 see


  1. Turn a cranked shaft so that the notch on its pulleys has coincided with a mark «0» on a cover of a belt of drive ГРМ. Thus the piston of the first cylinder will be resulted in ВМТ.
  1. To make sure of that is reached ВМТ the end of a step of compression it is possible, observing of indications компрессометра – at approach to ВМТ the end of a step of compression pressure in the cylinder will start to grow considerably. If the cover of a head of cylinders is removed, to make sure of achievement ВМТ of the end of a step of compression it is possible, observing of pushers of all valves of the first cylinder – they should be free, i.e. working ledges of corresponding cams of camshafts should be turned upwards.
  2. If it is reached ВМТ the end of a step of release for piston reduction in ВМТ the end of a step of compression turn a cranked shaft in a normal direction on a full turn.
